Your new house has a pre-installed security system
Many times after you purchase a new house, you’ll notice that the old owners used a home security system. All the components function well, are placed in the right areas, and are ready to go. In this example, all you might have to do is to call and start a new contract. A Vivint installer will still show up to ensure there are no compatibility problems, and they may offer suggestions on upgrades. It's a fast trip, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without having a bill for any new components -- unless you make additions.
The outgoing homeowners can transfer an existing Vivint contract to you for a one-time transfer cost to make your life simpler. If the previous owners are downsizing to a condo or retirement community, turning over the home security contract might be an addendum of the sale.
You need to move and take your old components with you
You might need to bring your old Vivint system with you to your new place when you move. Luckily, it's pretty simple to accomplish, as modern smart devices are portable. You can uninstall each alarm or camera by yourself or contact a Vivint expert to come and dismantle everything. Then an expert will set up the same components -- and any new things you need -- in the new place. Your home security contract will remain the same.
